The recent collapse of the US bank Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) has dragged down stock markets and interest rates around the world. There are concerns about whether the issues faced by this bank can spill over to other banks and nations, and the painful recollection of the 2008 financial crisis is once again resurfacing. In this brief note, we determine whether there are substantial hazards of an imminent worldwide systemic banking crisis.
