After the launch of the first Bitcoin futures last week the total market capitalisation (number of Bitcoins multiplied by their price) has reached $300 billion. In this report we try to analyse whether or not this phenomenon is a bubble. When asked whether the Bitcoin situation is a bubble, many technologists reply stating that Bitcoin is ‘invaluable’. Something similar was said of the ‘tech’ terra.com in 2000 as with many Nasdaq stocks; they were invaluable, but they were overvalued.
