The divergent economic expansion between the US and the euro area, with the former experiencing stronger growth rates, and the slowdown in Europe raise questions about the potential evolution of the Spanish economy. Activity indicators are inconclusive and do not help to determine whether the economy is performing positively or negatively, let alone to anticipate its short-, medium- and long-term performance. In this short essay, we will try to shed some light on this issue.
